How to Run a Successful Fashion Blog

Ovaj post je namenjen svim mojim dragim čitateljkama koje imaju svoje blogove ili razmišljaju o tome da pokrenu modni blog. Danas ću vam otkriti šta je po mom mišljenju neophodno kako biste vodili uspešan modni blog, a to podrazumeva da ima dosta ljudi kojima se vaš rad dopada, da je velika posećenost vašeg bloga, da brendovi žele da sarađuju sa vama itd. Nadam se da će ovaj post motivisati nekog od vas i pomoći barem jednoj osobi u nameri da pokrene sopstveni blog. Kao i uvek, pišite mi svoje komentare, predloge, pitanja i ja ću rado odgovoriti svakome od vas.

This post is dedicated to all my dear readers who have their own blogs, or thinking about launching a fashion blog. Today I will reveal to you what is in my opinion necessary to run a successful fashion blog, which means that there are plenty of people that like your work, that your blog has a great traffic, that brands want to cooperate with you and so on. I hope this post will motivate some of you and help at least one person in order to start their own blog. As always, write me your comments, suggestions, questions, and I will gladly respond to each and every one of you.

1. Diferenciranje - Prva stvar o kojoj treba da razmišljate kada pokrećete sopstveni blog jeste - kako se izdvojiti u masi ostalih blogova? Šta je ono što mene razlikuje od ostalih? Po čemu bi moj blog bio poseban? Svako od nas je različit i kada nađete svoju tržišnu nišu lako ćete se izdvojiti od ostalih. Da li je to specifičan životni stil, tip građe, godine, nesvakidašnje zanimanje, modni stil koji čine second hand, dizajnerski ili outfiti za office... Sami najbolje znate šta vas izdvaja od ostalih.

1. Differentiation - The real thing you need to think about when you're starting your own blog is - How to stand out in the crowd of other blogs? What is it that diferentiate me from others? How can my blog be special? Each of us is different and when you find your niche market it will be easy to distinguish yourself from the others. Is it a specific lifestyle, body type, an unusual hobby, fashion style etc. You know best what sets you apart from the rest of bloggers.

2. Iskrenost - Kako biste stekli čitaoce koji će vas istinski voleti, potrebno je da budete iskreni prema njima. Ne treba se, pre svega, pretvarati da ste nešto što niste. Ja mislim da modni blogovi treba da prikažu realnost, a ne da liče na modne magazine. Dakle ne podržavam fotošop; ne preporučujem čitaocima ništa čime i sama nisam bila zadovoljna, znači svaki savet i predlog je najiskreniji; slikam samo outfit postove koje zaista i nosim. Na taj način stičem vaše poverenje.

2. Honesty - To have readers who will truly love you, you need to be honest with them first. You souldn't pretend to be something you're not. I think that fashion blogs should be real rather than to look like fashion magazinews. That's why I don't support photoshop, I don't recommend anything to the readers that I myself was not satisfied with, so every piece of advice is genuine, I post only outfit posts that I actually wear. That's how I gained your trust.

3. Kvalitetan sadržaj - Sadržaj koji plasirate na vaš blog mora biti kvalitetan. Fotografije su najvažnije, ali nemojte se u startu obeshrabriti misleći da vam je neophodan skup profesionalni fotoaparat. Ja sam prve dve godine svog blogovanja koristila običan digitalni fotoaparat. Važno je da su fotografije pregledne, da je svetlost dobra, da se vide lepo detalji i da ne bude previše fotografija u jednom postu. Sledeće na šta treba da obratite pažnju je tekst. Ja se naježim kada naiđem na zanimljiv blog, ali onda shvatim da je osoba koja ga vodi potpuno nepismena i odmah izađem. Kada već radite nešto, dajte sve od sebe i ne budite lenji. Potrudite se da napišete zanimljiv tekst, da bude gramatički ispravan, da koristite tastaturu koja nudi č,ć,š,đ,ž, da prevedete tekst na engleski najbolje što umete (dovoljno je da bude strancima razumljiv, jer je strano tržište mnogo veće od domaćeg).

3. High quality content - Content that you place on your blog must be of good quality. Photos are the most important, but do not be discouraged and start thinking that you need expensive professional camera. First two years of blogging, I used an ordinary digital camera. The important thing is that the photos are transparent, the light is good, you can see all the details and that there's not too many photos in one post. Next we need to pay attention to the text. I get goose bumps when I come across an interesting blog, but then I realize that the person who runs it is completely illiterate and I immediately get out. When you're already doing something, do your best and don't be lazy. Make sure you write an interesting article, be grammatically correct and if you're not writing in English translate the text the best you know. (the most important thing is to make it understandable to foreigners, because the foreign market is much bigger than the domestic one).

4. Konzistentnost - Kod ovakve vrste oglašavanja jako je važno imati ustaljen raspored kako bi vaši čitaoci znali kad šta mogu da očekuju od vas. Ne možete očekivati da će neko pratiti vaš blog ako objavite dva posta mesečno, a taj neko u međuvremenu uđe na vaš blog deset puta i vidi da niste objavili ništa novo. Tada se gube čitaoci. Ovo je stavka koju je možda i najteže postići od svega navedenog, čak i ja posle 4 godine blogovanja još uvek imam problem da uskladim sve postove i objavljujem redovno.

4. Consistency - When it comes to blogging it is very important to have a set schedule so that your readers know when they can expect a new post from you. You can not expect that someone will follow your blog if you publish two articles per month, because that someone will enter your blog ten times in the meantime and see that you have not published anything new. That is how you lose readers. This is something that is perhaps the most difficult to achieve from all of the above, even I, after 4 years of blogging still have a problem scheduling all posts and publish it regularly.

5. Publika - Upoznajte svoju publiku. Da li su to studentkinje ili zaposlene žene? Kakve su njihove navike? Odakle potiču? Zašto me baš one prate? Šta žele da pročitaju i vide na mom blogu? Odgovore na ova pitanja daje statistika i važno je pratiti te odgovore. Kada znate za koga pišete, znaćete i kako da komunicirate sa svojim čitaocima i sve ostalo.

5. Audience - Know your audience. Are they students or a working woman? What are their habits? Where do they come from? Why do they follow my blog? What do they want to read and see on my blog? Analytics provide answers to these questions and it is important to keep track of those answers. When you know who you're writing to you'll know how to communicate with your readers.
